Key points
- Apply for DOH e-MAIFIP medical aid in the eGovPH app at accredited partner hospitals.
- You only need a valid government ID plus a charge slip, quotation or hospital bill.
- Track your status in the app, by SMS or email, and show the QR code to the hospital social worker.
- DSWD AICS can be booked in the app in some regions, but the interview is still in person.
- It's free. If the service isn't available, walk in at the Malasakit Center.
If you need help paying a hospital bill, medicines or lab tests, you can now start a request for government medical assistance on your phone through the eGovPH Super App. The main service in the app is the Department of Health’s e-MAIFIP (Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients), which works at DOH-accredited partner hospitals. In some regions, the app can also book a DSWD AICS appointment. There is no single deadline. Apply while the bill or treatment is still pending.
Last verified: October 12, 2026, against DOH, DBM and PIA announcements on e-MAIFIP and DSWD regional notices on eGovPH AICS booking.
What medical assistance is in the eGovPH app
- DOH e-MAIFIP is the digital version of MAIFIP, the same program behind the Malasakit Centers. You apply in the app, and once approved you get a QR code reference number to show the hospital’s medical social worker.
- DSWD AICS appointment booking lets you book a schedule for medical or funeral assistance where your DSWD regional office has joined (for example DSWD Region 7). You still need an in-person interview and assessment by a social worker.
- PCSO medical assistance was not confirmed as an in-app application at the time of checking. Apply through PCSO branches or Malasakit Centers.
Availability depends on your area and hospital. e-MAIFIP was piloted in Tarlac and is expanding through more partner hospitals. If your hospital is not on the list, use the walk-in route explained below.
Who can use it
- Indigent or financially incapacitated patients, whether admitted (inpatient) or outpatient.
- The patient or a family member or representative applying on the patient’s behalf.
- Patients treated at, or getting a quotation from, an e-MAIFIP-accredited partner health facility.
e-MAIFIP covers clinically needed services such as hospital bills, FDA-approved medicines, laboratory and diagnostic tests, dialysis, professional fees, and other medical and dental procedures. The approved amount is set after evaluation. No fixed amount is published, so don’t trust anyone who promises a specific figure.
What you need before you start
- A smartphone (Android or iPhone) with internet and an active mobile number for OTPs.
- An email address for updates.
- A valid government-issued ID. Your PhilSys National ID or ePhilID makes verification easier.
- From the partner hospital: a charge slip, price quotation or hospital bill.
- Clear photos of each document, in good light, with all four corners visible.
How to apply step by step
Step 1: Get your document from the partner hospital
Have a consultation at an accredited partner facility and ask for a price quotation or charge slip. If the patient is admitted, ask billing for the current hospital bill. Ask the medical social worker whether the hospital accepts e-MAIFIP.
Step 2: Download the official eGovPH app
Install eGovPH from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Check that DICT is listed as the developer, and avoid look-alike apps.
Step 3: Register and verify your account
Sign up with your mobile number, enter the OTP, and fill in your personal details exactly as they appear on your ID. Finish identity verification with your ID and the face scan or selfie the app asks for. A verified account gives you the eGovPH ID inside the app. The exact screens change between app updates, so just follow the prompts. Do this in advance, not during an emergency.
Step 4: Open e-MAIFIP and tap “Apply for Medical Aid”
Look for e-MAIFIP among the services, or search for it in the app, then choose Apply for Medical Aid.
Step 5: Fill in the patient details
Say whether you are applying for yourself or for a patient you represent. Choose inpatient or outpatient, then select the accredited partner health facility.
Step 6: Upload your documents and submit
Upload your valid government ID and the charge slip, quotation or hospital bill. Check that every detail is readable, then submit.
Step 7: Track the status
Watch for updates in the app, by SMS and by email. The notice tells you whether you were approved and the approved amount.
Step 8: Show your QR code at the hospital
Once approved, go to the hospital’s medical social worker and present your QR code reference number. The assistance is applied to your bill or service through the hospital.
Booking a DSWD AICS appointment in the app
Where your DSWD field office offers it, you can book an AICS medical assistance appointment through eGovPH and upload your documents. Booking is not approval. Bring your original documents to the interview and assessment. See our DSWD AICS medical assistance guide for the requirements and the walk-in process. Not every region has AICS booking in the app yet.
Documents to upload
- A valid government-issued ID of the applicant.
- A charge slip, price quotation or hospital bill from the accredited facility.
- For AICS bookings: whatever your DSWD office asks for, usually a medical certificate or clinical abstract and a prescription or bill.
What happens after you submit
Your request is reviewed digitally. You get the result and the approved amount by app notification, SMS or email. There is no published processing time, so follow up with the hospital social worker if you haven’t heard back, especially before a scheduled procedure or discharge.
Common problems and tips
- Can’t find e-MAIFIP: update the app. If it’s still missing, the service may not be open in your area yet, so apply at the hospital’s Malasakit Center.
- Hospital not listed: it may not be accredited yet. Check our list of hospitals that accept medical assistance.
- Face verification fails: use good light, remove glasses or a cap, and make sure your details match your ID exactly.
- Blurry uploads: retake the photos flat, with the whole page visible.
- Not comfortable with apps: the hospital social workers can help you apply.
- Still short on funds: you can also ask for help from party-list medical assistance offices.
- The service is free. Never pay a fixer or share your OTP or MPIN.
Questions people ask
Is e-MAIFIP different from the Malasakit Center?
It’s the same DOH MAIFIP fund. e-MAIFIP lets you start the request in the app instead of lining up for a paper guarantee letter.
Can I apply for a family member?
Yes. The app lets you choose whether you are the patient or applying on the patient’s behalf.
How much will I get?
No fixed amount is published. The approved amount depends on the evaluation and the bill, and it is shown in your status update.
Can I get DSWD AICS cash fully online?
No. The app only books the appointment where it’s available. A social worker still has to interview and assess you in person.
Can I apply for PCSO medical assistance in eGovPH?
We couldn’t confirm a PCSO application inside the app. Use PCSO branches or the Malasakit Center at the hospital.
